I. Contributed Papers Regular and Short Papers are sought for presentation in a lecture format at the conference and for inclusion in the proceedings. Web-based submission of manuscripts is required. E-mail submission will not be accepted. Please refer to the ACC2001 web page (address given above) for instructions. The review of Regular Papers will be coordinated by the AIChE Society Review Chair. The review of all Short Papers will be coordinated by the ACC2001 Vice Chair for Contributed Papers. In order to ensure that your final manuscript will fit within the prescribed page limits in the conference proceedings (six proceedings pages for regular papers and two proceedings pages for short papers), please target approximately 15 single-sided, double-spaced pages, including figures and references, for regular papers. For short papers, please submit a 4 to 6 page single-sided, double-spaced extended summary. All submissions must be made on US-letter size or A4 size paper. The deadline for receipt of all contributed papers is September 15, 2000. Authors will be notified of paper acceptance by mid January 2001. Instructions for preparing the final manuscript for the Conference Proceedings will be distributed at this time. The deadline for submitting camera-ready mats for the Conference Proceedings is March 1, 2001. II. Invited Sessions Invited sessions should generally be based on topics that have not received enough attention via the contributed paper channel, or that would be more appropriately dealt with in a focused session. Papers that are in well-covered areas (ACC mainstream) should be submitted as contributed papers. We have developed a preliminary list of AIChE-sponsored invited sessions at the 2001 ACC (see below). If you would like to propose an invited session on another topic, please contact me immediately (By e-mail: mandleja@apci.com, or by phone (610)481-3413). Calls for abstracts for the invited sessions will be distributed in the week following this message. Abstracts should be sent directly to the chairs and co-chairs for each session by August 21, 2000. You will be informed of the decision by September 7, 2000. Tentative AIChE Invited Sessions for the 2001 ACC are as follows: "Novel Formulation of MPC" "Control of Batch and Periodic Processes" "Control of Chemical States" "Control of Biomedical Systems" "Real Time Optimization"
