Priority will be given to papers that discuss novel theories, new and innovative control strategies, novel applications, or the definition of new problem areas in process control. Papers that demonstrate the application of existing theory to new problem areas are also welcome. The contribution of the paper to the advancement of the state-of-the-art should be clearly stated in the abstract. The topic and specific area are open; however, authors are strongly discouraged from submitting to this session papers that would be better suited for presentation in the following sessions sponsored by the Area 10b of CAST: Topics in Systems and Process Control, Integration of Design and Control, Modeling and Identification, Plant-wide Control, Novel Methods in Nonlinear Process Control, Process and Control System Monitoring, Theory and Practice of Model Predictive Control, Control of Separation Processes and Control of Microelectronic Manufacturing Processes. A one-page abstract and a completed proposal-to-present (PTP) form must be submitted electronically via the AIChE web page by 1 May 2000 (this is a hard deadline). Further submission details can be found at http://www.aiche.org/annual/ . The CAST 10b programming committee considers it unacceptable to submit the same abstract to more than one session; therefore, such multiple submissions may be disqualified.
