To learn more about CS2000 please visit the conference web site at http://www.paptac.ca/pcc/cs2000.htm. Workshop cost: US$300 Space is limited to the first 30 registrants. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES The objectives of the workshop are (a) to review basic math and statistics for scanner data analysis and (b) to introduce some of the recent and practical methods for product quality assessment, performance monitoring and design of MD/CD controllers as applicable to paper machines. Participants will learn how to extract maximum information from machine data and how to identify performance variations accurately. The underlying technical approach for the workshop will be to treat sheet data as a two-dimensional information set and to construct control and monitoring tools through basic multivariate methods. Technical principles and methods to be covered are equally applicable to all other sheet and web forming processes in plastics, metals, glass and fabric manufacturing. Workshop notes will be provided in hardcopy and electronic formats. WORKSHOP AGENDA Simple paper machine model for basis weight dynamics. Full sheet vs traversing scanner data. Separating data into MD (machine direction) and CD (cross direction) components. Mean trend statistical measures for conventional quality assessment. Two-dimensional sheet data visualization. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) filtering and improvements on product quality assessment. Using other orthogonal decomposition methods for data analysis. Power spectra and two-dimensional autocorrelations. MD control and univariate control performance assessment. Constrained CD controller design through modal decomposition and gain mapping. Model based spatiotemporal CD control performance assessment. REGISTRATION Please register by providing the following information via e-mail (preferred), fax or regular mail.
